Take a no-nonsense military commander (who was often more dedicated to her job than her family) and a too full of himself movie star, blend them together and add in heaps of loving (and not so loving) dysfunction, and you get Cassie Cage.
Cassie is the perfect blend of her parents. The good, the bad, the ugly - she has her father's self-confidence and relaxed sense of humor, and her mother's intensity and drive for success. She is brimming with energy, drive, and passion - constantly aspiring to new heights, to make her parents proud and to do right by the people relying on her. She makes an impression wherever she goes thanks to her sharp wit and a devil may care attitude. Cassie Cage is a hurricane of a person who doesn't just want to meet expectations, she wants to kick expectations heart out and make a joke about it.
And quip she does! While capable of being serious and professional, Cassie is just as prone to teaasing and insulting the people around her as her father is. Little quips under her breath to diffuse tension in a tense situation, asides to herself to normalize or rationalize a situation. She's also keen on running her mouth and joking where ever there's a lull of silence. On her own terms she to keep things light, easy, and fun - if not a little macabre, and often directed at people who could very well crush her if they felt the urge.

She deals in cross-realm wars and death, and in her mind what's life if you can't enjoy it and stop and smell the bloody roses? Most of Cassie's (not canonically used) fatalities involve finding levity in the carnage she lives in, such as taking selfies with recently deceased bodies of her enemies after smashing their jaw off, or kicking a guy's heart out through his chest and making a heart in the chest cavity. While it may seem sociopathic - the levity is largely how she deals with the reality of the situations she finds herself in - humor, dark comments under her breath, a quip or a curse when there's room for it. It isn't a true indication on her opinions on the value of life, human or Outworlder. If Cassie can avoid taking a life, she will - but she understands that death is part of what she does and is often unavoidable.
While working, she is nothing if not the perfect soldier. She understands the difference between 'work time' and 'play time' and compartmentalizes accordingly. Cassie the Seargent is a farcry from Cassie the free-wheeling memelord. She's serious and to the point, focused on getting results and accomplishing the mission. If it's not something she can accomplish, she'll either improvise or delegate accordingly.

Cassie Cage: I'm her daughter, Professor Eyesight.
Liu Kang: You most definitely are.
It's exceptionally hard to get under her skin. Most of her battle quotes are her needling other people to get under theirs and them trying, and failing, to get a rise out of her. Her lack of reaction followed by a deadpan delivery of most of her sardonic insults tends to lead to her coming out of the verbal head to head on top. The only times she isn't able to recover is when being disgustingly propositioned for sex - by Shao Kahn and the Kollector in MK11 - or in any dialogue with Kano, which immediately sees her angry and on the offensive.
Partly because she has Sonya's temperament. While good in a situation that requires diplomacy and a skilled hand, her temper isn't perfect and she's more than capable of losing it. While she is often laid back and easy going, stepping too far over her boundaries or threatening someone she loves is a guaranteed to bring it out. It is a reminder she's not to be trifled with and will kick the ass of anyone who tries.
Threats to her loved ones are the quickest trigger. Family and friends come before almost all else for her. Cassie's best friend, Jacqui Briggs, is basically her other half. To the point that when Cassie joined the Special Forces, Jacqui joined with her, and they worked their way up the ladder together. Her father is her favorite person in the world, and she'd move heaven and earth for her mother's approval. She teases them affectionately, comes up with nicknames - and dunks on them relentlessly. They mean everything to her and she would gladly lay down her life for theirs. She's a firm believer in no man left behind. To the point where when she's faced with a terrible choice - to leave her mother to die to complete the mission, or to throw everything she has into saving her at the cost of her own life - Sonya makes the choice for her.
As for fighting - she's not above going below the belt. Literally. She's kicked dudes so hard their testicles exploded. Victory and the success of the mission must come at all costs, and sometimes that means throwing honor to the wind in favor of coming out on top.
Some anxieties about not living up to her parents legacy. At her current canonpoint, she's beaten an Elder God into submission using a talent inherited from her father - but up until that point, Cassie has always expressed concern and doubt that she's a 'lesser Cage' and will never live up to their legacy. Both of her parents saved the world multiple times - how does someone even begin to measure up for that? Sonya always expected the best from her, and while Johnny is one of the most supportive parents someone could hope for, he casts a large shadow. She doesn't begrudge either of them for it - she just wants to live up to their expectations.
All in all, Cassie is an exceptionally hard working and dedicated girl who will always have your back so long as you have her trust - and you can tolerate the obnoxious gum chewing and jokes at your expense.
